Regular Season Round 26: Dinamo Tbilisi - Sokhumi 67-62

Date: April 14, 2016
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: Dinamo Tbilisi (#3) and Sokhumi (#4). Dinamo Tbilisi (16-10) won against visiting Sokhumi (14-12) 67-62. The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 17-11 Sokhumi's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 67-62 at the end of the game. Dinamo Tbilisi forced 20 Sokhumi turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Serbian swingman Maksim Kovacevic (196-87, agency: SPORTlab Agency) notched 26 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and center Ilia Londaridze (205-89) supported him with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Even 23 points by American point guard Phillip Miller (185-91, college: Wiley) did not help to save the game for Sokhumi. Forward Giorgi Jgerenaia (206-90, college: N.Georgia) added 8 points and 15 rebounds for the guests. Dinamo Tbilisi have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 16-10 record having just two points less than leader Batumi. Sokhumi at the other side keeps the fourth place with 12 games lost. Dinamo Tbilisi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Olimpi.
