Regular Season Round 26: Cantbasket - Clavijo 82-86

The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked Clavijo's (12-10) road victory over 7th ranked Cantbasket (10-11) 86-82 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cantbasket won third quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Clavijo won last quarter 24-21. Cantbasket was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Brais Gago (180-96) scored 23 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and forward Enrique Suarez (192-83) chipped in 21 points during the contest. American guard DeAngelo Hailey (190-90, college: NW Missouri St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and forward Miguel Angel Blanco (195-74) scored 19 points. Cantbasket's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Clavijo have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position in Group A-A with 12-10 record. Cantbasket lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 11 games lost. Clavijo will face league's leader Ardoi in Zizur Mayor in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cantbasket will play on the road against Burgos (#11) and hope to win that game.
