Regular Season Round 55: Fukushima - Sendai 89ers 94-93

The most exciting game of round 55 in the BJ League took place in Fukushima. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Sendai 89ers (35-14) to sixth ranked Fukushima (29-20) 94-93 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Sendai 89ers. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sendai 89ers won third quarter 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Sendai 89ers outrebounded Fukushima 38-26 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Fukushima especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Le'Bryan Nash (201-92, college: Oklahoma St.) who helped to win the game recording 42 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. Forward Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) answered with 32 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Terrance Shannon (203-90, college: VCU) added 14 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Five Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Fukushima moved-up to fifth place. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the second position with 14 games lost. Fukushima are again looking forward to face league's second-placed Sendai 89ers at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round.
