Regular Season Round 29: Nancy - Strasbourg 72-80

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Sluc Nancy (9-20) was defeated at home by third ranked Strasbourg IG (20-9) 80-72 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sluc Nancy won fourth quarter 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strasbourg IG dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Sluc Nancy's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Kyle Weems (198-89, college: Missouri St.) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Mardy Collins (198-84, college: Temple) chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Strasbourg IG's coach Vincent Collet used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American forward Andy Panko (203-77, college: Lebanon Valley, agency: Beo Basket) produced 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Benjamin Sene (186-94, agency: Comsport) added 20 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Sluc Nancy players scored in double figures. Strasbourg IG moved-up to second place, which they share with Le Mans. Loser Sluc Nancy keeps the sixteenth position with 20 games lost. Strasbourg IG will face Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#4) at home in the next round. Sluc Nancy will play against Gravelines-Dunkerque (#6) and hope to win that game.
