Regular Season Round 8: Academia - Condores 71-69

The most exciting game of round 8 in the Liga DirecTV took place in Montana. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd ranked Condores (4-4) to second ranked Academia (7-1) 71-69 on Saturday evening. Naturalized Venezuelan forward Michael Hinestroza Javes (208-90, college: UALR) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds. Puerto Rican-Dominican forward Jonathan Rodriguez (196-87, college: Campbell) contributed with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Byron Westmorland (193-90, college: Bowie St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Kevin Mickens (207-83, college: George Mason) added 19 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Condores. Condores' coach Tomas Diaz rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Academia have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Cimarrones. Condores lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with four games lost. They share the position with Sabios. Academia is looking forward to face Patriotas (#5) in Boyaca in the next round. Condores will play on the road against Halcones in Cucuta and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
