Second Stage Round 11: Terceira - Sangalhos 55-58

The most exciting game of round 11 in the Proliga took place in Angra Heroismo. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-ranked Terceira (12-5) to seventh ranked Sangalhos (5-12) 58-55 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Forward Nuno Bizarro (192-80) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Luis Fonte (191-79) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Sangalhos' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Naturalized Sao Tome and Principe center Ekjersey Viana (203-77) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Matt Smith (201-91, college: Toledo) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Terceira. Sangalhos moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Vasco and Angra. Terceira at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Sangalhos is looking forward to face Angrabasket (#8) on the road in the next round. Terceira will play against Dragon Force (#5) and is hoping to win this game.
