Second Stage Round 12: Illiabum - Vasco 73-62

Proliga top team - Illiabum (15-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Vasco (5-13) in Ilhavo 73-62. It looked good early as Vasco took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Illiabum had a 23-9 second period charge getting the lead and Vasco was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-73. Illiabum forced 23 Vasco turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for power forward Rafael Wildner (207-92) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 9 rebounds. International Augusto Sobrinho (188-85) contributed with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Point guard Miguel Toreia (180-93) replied with 20 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Angolan forward Paulo Ferreira (187-80) added 14 points in the effort for Vasco. Vasco's coach Hugo Salgado rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Illiabum maintains first position with 15-2 record. Vasco lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with 13 games lost. Illiabum's next round opponent will be Angrabasket (#8) at home and are hoping to win another game. Vasco will play against the league's second-placed Terceira and hope to win that game.
