Regular Season Round 56: Gunma - Niigata Albirex 86-90

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Niigata Albirex (33-17) beat on the road 9th ranked Gunma (21-29) 90-86 on Sunday. Gunma trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 13 after three quarters before a 25-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 86-90 at the end of the game. Niigata Albirex made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Wayne Arnold (193-84, college: Tennessee St.) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 4 assists and Jamaican-American power forward Ryan Reid (204-86, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) who added 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Niigata Albirex's coach Kazuo Nakamura used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) responded with 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Mike St.John (203-84, college: La Salle, agency: Global Sports Plaza) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex maintains fourth position with 33-17 record, which they share with Shiga L-Stars. Gunma lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 29 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face Iwate Big Bulls (#5) at home in the next round. Gunma will play against Fukushima (#6) and hope to win that game.
