Second Stage Round 10: Oliveirense - Benfica 84-77

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Benfica (15-5) in Oliveira on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Oliveirense (9-11) 84-77. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Oliveirense made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Benfica helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international center Elvis Evora (205-78) scored 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian center Dusan Sisic (206-90) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Oliveirense players scored in double figures. Oliveirense's coach Ricardo Rodrigues used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Daequan Cook (195-87, college: Ohio St., agency: Priority Sports) responded with 27 points and his fellow American import Jeremiah Wilson (205-88, college: Tarleton St.) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Oliveirense moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion Benfica still keeps top position with five games lost.
