Regular Season Round 56: Hamamatsu P. - Okinawa GK 84-77

There was a change at the BJ League leadership position after last games. Round 56 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Okinawa GK (39-11). They were defeated by fourth ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (34-16) 84-77 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the 16-game winning streak of Okinawa GK. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 25-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Deangelo Kirkland (203, college: Columbus St., agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 9 rebounds and forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) who added 10 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Hamamatsu Phoenix's coach Tomoya Higashino used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Evan Ravenel (203-89, college: Ohio St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hamamatsu Phoenix moved-up to third place, which they share with Osaka Evessa and Akita NH. Okinawa GK at the other side still keeps top position with 11 games lost. They share it with Kyoto Hannar.. They were replaced at the leadership position by Kyoto Hannar.. Okinawa GK will play next round against Osaka Evessa trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Hamamatsu Phoenix will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Shimane Magic on the road.
