Regular Season Round 56: Osaka Evessa - Oita H.Devils 109-81

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Osaka Evessa (34-16) outleveled at home 10th ranked Oita Heat Devils (16-34) 109-81 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Osaka Evessa. Oita Heat Devils was better in third quarter 28-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Osaka Evessa shot 60.6 percent from the field. Osaka Evessa had a 36-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Osaka Evessa looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and swingman Soma Takuya (181-91) who added 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Osaka Evessa's coach Dai Oketani felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) scored 21 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Osaka Evessa have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Hamamatsu P. and Akita NH. Loser Oita Heat Devils keep the tenth position with 34 games lost. Osaka Evessa will face league's second-placed Okinawa GK on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Oita Heat Devils will play against Kanazawa Samuraiz (#7) and hope to win that game.
