Regular Season Round 29: Maccabi K/G - Hapoel J-M 65-97

Leader Hapoel Jerusalem delivered the twenty second victory. This time they crushed 12th ranked Maccabi K/G (10-19) 97-65 in Kiryat Gat. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Jerusalem. Maccabi K/G was better in third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Jerusalem dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi K/G's 46. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. The former international guard Bar Timor (190-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. International forward Lior Eliyahu (205-85) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Hapoel Jerusalem players scored in double figures. Hapoel Jerusalem's coach Danny Franco felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Marco Killingsworth (203-82, college: Indiana) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import point guard Paul Delaney (188-86, college: UAB, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 17 points and 5 assists in the effort for Maccabi K/G. Hapoel Jerusalem (22-6) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place. Newly promoted Maccabi K/G stay at the bottom position with 19 games lost. They share it with Hapoel Holon and Ironi Nes-Ziona. Hapoel Jerusalem will play against Hapoel Eilat (#4) at home in the next round. Maccabi K/G will play against the league's second-placed Maccabi T-A (#2) in Tel-Aviv and hopes to get back on the winning track.
