Regular Season Round 57: Shimane SM - Hamamatsu P. 61-85

The game between third ranked Shimane Magic (37-14) and fifth ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (35-16) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Shimane Magic was crushed by Hamamatsu Phoenix in Shimane 85-61. The game was mostly controlled by Hamamatsu Phoenix. Shimane Magic managed to win third quarter 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hamamatsu Phoenix had a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St., agency: Inception Sports) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Deangelo Kirkland (203, college: Columbus St., agency: Interperformances) chipped in 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hamamatsu Phoenix moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Osaka Evessa. Shimane Magic at the other side dropped to the second position with 14 games lost. They share it with Sendai 89ers. Hamamatsu Phoenix will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shimane Magic will play again at home against Hamamatsu Phoenix and is hoping to win this game.
