Everything went according to plan when first ranked Agustinos-Eras (17-4) defeated on the road 5th ranked Leon (11-10) 70-66 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 26-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Agustinos-Eras made 7 blocks. It was a good game for American center Kevin Rima (204-92, college: NW Nazarene) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sergio Martinez contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four Agustinos-Eras players scored in double figures. Agustinos-Eras' coach Adrian Alvarez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Trevor Berkeley (198-92, college: Drake) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and Javier Laborda (197-91) added 18 points in the effort for Leon. Agustinos-Eras maintains first place in Group A-B with 17-4 record, which they share with Grupo Inec Z. Loser Leon keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Agustinos-Eras will face Naron (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Leon will play against Betanzos and hope to win that game.
