Date: April 23, 2016
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Gran Canaria and 9th ranked Torrelodones had identical 9-14 record. This time Gran Canaria used a home court advantage and outleveled the opponent from 89-64 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Gran Canaria. Torrelodones was better in fourth quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gran Canaria forced 22 Torrelodones turnovers. Torrelodones was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for guard Joaquin Portugues (185-95) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Lithuanian center Rokas Gadiliauskas (205-98) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Center Jordan Sakho (209-97, agency: Beo Basket) answered with 18 points and forward Ruben Portes (192-81) added 11 points in the effort for Torrelodones. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gran Canaria. They maintain eighth place in Group B with 10-14 record. Newly promoted Torrelodones keeps the ninth position with 15 games lost. Gran Canaria will face higher ranked Real Canoe (#7) in Madrid in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Torrelodones will play at home against Casvi and hope to win that game.
