Regular Season Round 29: Hiroshima D. - Tochigi Brex 80-83 OT

Date: April 24, 2016
Ninth-ranked Dragonflies (16-37) made lots of trouble for second ranked Tochigi Brex (40-9) in Hiroshima on Sunday. The visitors from Tochigi managed to secure only three-point victory 83-80. However their fans expected much easier game. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87) who scored 32 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American guard Tommy Brenton (196-89, college: Stony Brook) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Furukawa is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Haminn Quaintance (203-85, college: Kent St.) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) added 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) respectively for the hosts. Four Dragonflies players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Tochigi Brex maintains second place with 40-9 record having five points less than leader Toyota Alvark. Dragonflies lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 37 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face Kumamoto V. (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dragonflies will play against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and hope to win that game.
