Regular Season Round 29: Toyota Alvark - Hitachi SR 78-64

No shocking result in a game in Tokyo where first ranked Toyota Alvark (43-8) defeated 4th placed Hitachi Sunrockers (32-19) 78-64 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Hitachi Sunrockers was better in fourth quarter 28-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hitachi Sunrockers to just 6 points in second quarter. The best player for the winners was American forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. The former international guard Keijuro Matsui (188-85, college: Columbia) chipped in 17 points. American guard Kevin Murphy (196-90, college: Tenn Tech, agency: Priority Sports) produced 21 points and 7 rebounds and international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyota Alvark have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 43-8 record. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 19 games lost. Toyota Alvark will face Nishinomiya S. (#11) in Hyogo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hitachi Sunrockers will play at home against Nishinomiya S. (#11) and hope to win that game.
