Rather predictable result when fifteenth ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (9-23) defeated at home bottom-ranked Crailsheim Merlins (5-27) 72-64 on Sunday. Crailsheim Merlins trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 22-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 64-72 at the end of the game. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Crailsheim Merlins were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Kyle Fogg (190-90, college: Arizona) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) who added 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Power forward Adam Chubb (208-81, college: Pennsylvania) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Jordan Callahan (184-90, college: Tulane) scored 8 points and 8 assists. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Walter Tigers. Crailsheim Merlins lost seventeenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 27 lost games. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will face higher ranked EWE Baskets (#3) in Oldenburg in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Crailsheim Merlins will play at home against Walter Tigers (#15) and hope to win that game.
