Regular Season Round 27: Cartagena - L`Alfas 78-86

Everything went according to plan when second ranked L`Alfas (11-12) defeated on the road 5th ranked Cartagena (4-20) 86-78 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 27-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. L`Alfas outrebounded Cartagena 44-33 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for point guard Iker Benzazova (182-80) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Belarusian power forward Ivan Zhauniarovich (205-86) contributed with 8 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. L`Alfas' coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Chema Albaladejo (191-90) answered with 27 points and 4 steals (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and point guard Pablo Carselle (183-93) added 15 points in the effort for Cartagena. The victory was the third consecutive win for L`Alfas. They keep a position of Group E Desc leader. Loser Cartagena keeps the fifth place with 20 games lost. L`Alfas will face league's second-placed UCAM Murcia II on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cartagena will play against Sagunto in Gilet and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
