Regular Season Round 58: Sendai 89ers - Akita NH 82-100

An interesting game for Akita Happinets (35-17) which played road game in Sendai against their biggest opponent Sendai 89ers (37-15). Third ranked Akita Happinets had an easy win 100-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sendai 89ers. The game was mostly controlled by Akita Happinets. Sendai 89ers managed to win fourth quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Akita Happinets looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American players dominated the game. Forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) notched a double-double by scoring 31 points and 16 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and swingman Richard Roby (198-85, agency: CGL Sports) supported him with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 26 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Terrance Shannon (203-90, college: VCU) did not help to save the game for Sendai 89ers. Power forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) added 14 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Akita Happinets maintains third position with 35-17 record having four points less than leader Kyoto Hannar., which they share with Osaka Evessa and Shiga L-Stars. Loser Sendai 89ers keep the second place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Shimane SM.
