Ninth-ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (9-15) made lots of trouble for first ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (17-7) on Wednesday. Rayos de Hermosillo managed to secure only three-point victory 92-89. However their fans expected much easier game. Rayos de Hermosillo made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was swingman Michael Craig (196-91, college: S.Mississippi) who scored 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) who recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and power forward Willie Readus (201-92, college: Delta St.) added 22 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-7 record. Fuerza Guinda Nogales lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 15 games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo are looking forward to face Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will play against Tijuana Zonkeys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
