Regular Season Round 30: Tochigi Brex - Nishinomiya S. 107-89

Very expected game when 11th ranked Nishinomiya S. (12-41) lost on the road to second ranked Tochigi Brex (41-10) 107-89 on Thursday. Tochigi Brex dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Nishinomiya S.'s 50. It was a great shooting night for Tochigi Brex especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Nishinomiya S.'s players. It was a good game for the former international forward Naoya Kumagae (194-90) who led his team to a victory with 20 points. American guard Tommy Brenton (196-89, college: Stony Brook) contributed with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import center Dillion Sneed (203-84, college: E.Tenn.St.) added 21 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Nishinomiya S.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tochigi Brex maintains second position with 41-10 record having six points less than leader Toyota Alvark. Nishinomiya S. lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 41 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face Hokkaido L. (#6) in Saporro in the next round. Nishinomiya S. will play on the road against Kumamoto V. (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
