Regular Season Round 28: Paterna - Almassera 76-69

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Paterna (12-13) won against at home 3rd ranked Almassera (15-10) 76-69 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-69. Paterna shot 34 for 48 from the free-throw line, while Almassera only scored eight points from the stripe. Almassera was plagued by 35 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for guard Carlos Cerdan (190-97) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Juan Navarro (195-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Guard Sergio Vidal (194-88, agency: Dynamics Global Management) replied with 13 points and 6 rebounds and Dutch forward Jordan Kaspers (197-91) added 5 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Almassera. Four Almassera players scored in double figures. Almassera's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Paterna maintains fifth position in Group E Clas with 12-13 record. Almassera lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with ten games lost. Paterna will face league's leader Gandia Basquet on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Almassera's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Valencia Valencia-2.
