Regular Season Round 28: Betanzos - Leon 77-72

There was an upset when higher ranked Leon (11-11) lost on the road to twelfth ranked Betanzos (6-16) 77-72 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 26-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Betanzos made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Leon was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Jose Miguel Perez (202-96) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds. Center Rodrigo Plaza (197-93) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Betanzos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Diego Mallou (180-94) replied with 17 points and Chilean guard Lautaro Labarca (192-95) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Leon. Betanzos moved-up to ninth place in Group A-B, which they share with Chantada and Rosalia. Loser Leon dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost.
