Regular Season Round 30: Hokkaido L. - Hiroshima D. 60-63

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Hokkaido L. (28-25) was edged by ninth ranked Dragonflies (16-37) in Saporro 63-60 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hokkaido L. won fourth quarter 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Hokkaido L. outrebounded Dragonflies 43-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 4 assists. The other American import forward Haminn Quaintance (203-85, college: Kent St.) contributed with 9 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds and the former international guard Ryota Sakurai (194-83) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Hokkaido L.Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Dragonflies maintains ninth position with 16-37 record. Hokkaido L. lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 25 games lost. Dragonflies will face league's leader Toyota Alvark in Tokyo in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
