Zwolle outgunned Den Bosch to gain 1-0 lead in the semifinal series. It looked good early as Den Bosch took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Zwolle had a 24-9 second period charge getting the lead and Den Bosch was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-89. Zwolle made 27-of-32 charity shots (84.4 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Den Bosch was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Grant Gibbs (196-89, college: Creighton) nailed 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Steve McWhorter (189-92, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) accounted for 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Zwolle players scored in double figures. International guard Arvin Slagter (191-85, agency: Court Side) came up with 19 points and the former international Kees Akerboom (200-83, agency: Court Side) added 15 points respectively for Den Bosch in the defeat. Den Bosch's coach Samuel Jones rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
