Regular Season Round 30: Hitachi SR - Nishinomiya S. 97-91

Very predictable result when fifth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (33-19) won against 11th ranked Nishinomiya S. (12-41) in Tokyo 97-91 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Nishinomiya S. trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 29-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 91-97 at the end of the game. It was a good game for the former international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach Michael Olson used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) replied with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Tadahiro Yanagawa (183-86) added 18 points in the effort for Nishinomiya S.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains fifth position with 33-19 record. Nishinomiya S. lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 41 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face Chiba Jets (#8) on the road in the next round. Nishinomiya S. will play against Kumamoto V. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
