Regular Season Round 30: Chiba Jets - Toshiba BT 98-97 OT

Eighth ranked Chiba Jets won an overtime thriller edging higher ranked Toshiba Thunders by one point 97-98 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Toshiba Thunders. Toshiba Thunders were trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 28-20 charge of Chiba Jets, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 11-10. It was a good game for American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 19 rebounds. The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) contributed with 23 points and 6 assists for the winners. Five Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) replied with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and the former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for Toshiba Thunders. Toshiba Thunders' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Chiba Jets maintains eighth position with 22-31 record. Toshiba Thunders at the other side keep the third place with 17 games lost. Chiba Jets will face higher ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (#5) in Tokyo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Toshiba Thunders will play at home against the league's second-placed Tochigi Brex where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
