Very expected game when 10th ranked Besiktas (14-15) lost to fifth ranked Banvit BK (17-12) in Balikesir 68-83 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Banvit BK. Besiktas managed to win third quarter 23-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Banvit BK forced 22 Besiktas turnovers. French Adrien Moerman (202-88) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and American-Polish point guard A.J. Slaughter (191-87, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Beo Basket) accounted for 14 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. The former international guard Engin Atsur (193-84, college: N.Carolina St., agency: Beo Basket) came up with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Besiktas in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Banvit BK maintains fifth place with 17-12 record. Loser Besiktas dropped to the eighth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Royal Hali and Demir IBB. Banvit BK will meet Trabzonspor (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Besiktas will play against Demir IBB and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
