The game had a very big importance for second-ranked L`Alfas as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group E Desc. L`Alfas defeated 5th ranked Sagunto in Alfas Del Pi 83-68. The game was mostly controlled by L`Alfas. Sagunto was better in fourth quarter 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. L`Alfas had a 38-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Point guard Iker Benzazova (182-80) stepped up and scored 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Belarusian power forward Ivan Zhauniarovich (205-86) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. L`Alfas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Oscar Pena (196-97) responded with 11 points and 8 rebounds and Luis Ferrando (185-96, college: Mount Olive) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Sagunto players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Sagunto lost third consecutive game. Sagunto at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth place with 20 games lost.
