Regular Season Round 18: Halcones - Aguilas 52-66

There was a minor upset in Cucuta where 5th ranked Halcones (8-10) were defeated by seventh ranked Patriotas (6-12) 66-52 on Saturday. Patriotas held Halcones to an opponent 23.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.5 percent accuracy of the winners. The best player for the winners was American forward Titus Mims (201, college: Hardin-Simmons) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import power forward Aramie Brooks (203-87, college: Northwestern St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks. Brooks is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Venezuelan swingman Hector Diaz (197-92) who recorded 14 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Sean Harris (201, college: Utah St.) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Halcones' coach tested ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains seventh position with 6-12 record. Loser Halcones dropped to the fourth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Sabios and Condores. Patriotas will meet at home league's second-placed Cimarrones in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Halcones will play against Bucaros in Bucaramanga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
