The game between closely ranked teams ended with first ranked Kymis' (23-4) home victory over second-ranked Faros (21-6) 67-56 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Kymis outrebounded Faros 39-20 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Stavros Toutziarakis (210-87, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up and scored 9 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Serbian guard Igor Milosevic (193-86, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Point guard Nikos Liakopoulos (188-83) responded with 21 points and Vaggelis Karaboulas (198-81) scored 15 points. Faros' coach Theofilos Bekes rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kymis have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Newly promoted Kymis maintains first place with 23-4 record. Faros at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the second position with six games lost. Kymis will face Promitheas (#4) in Patras in the next round. Faros will play at home against Panerythraikos and hope to win that game.
