Regular Season Round 29: Panerythraikos - Ethnikos 72-86

There was no surprise in New Eritrea where 12th ranked Panerythraikos (9-17) was defeated by fourth ranked Ethnikos (18-9) 86-72 on Saturday. Ethnikos dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Panerythraikos' 28. They outrebounded Panerythraikos 39-27 including 24 on the defensive glass. Panerythraikos was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Serbian center Damir Latovic (204-80) stepped up and scored 9 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and guard Spyros Magounis (200-85, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Giannis Prodromou (196-87) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and forward Tasos Kallianotis (193-83) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ethnikos moved-up to third place, which they share with Promitheas. Newly promoted Panerythraikos keeps the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Ethnikos will face Livadia (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panerythraikos will play against the league's second-placed Faros in Keratsiniou and hope to win that game.
