Regular Season Round 44: Mazatlan - Navolato 113-115

The most exciting game of round 44 in the CIBACOPA took place in Mazatlan. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (25-14) to eleventh ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (14-25) 115-113 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. Garra Canera de Navolato made 25-of-28 free shots (89.3 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Lobos UAD Mazatlan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Tamir Jackson (190-90, college: Rice) who scored 43 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (on 17-of-20 shooting from the field). Forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Curtis Stinson (191-83, college: Iowa St.) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists and guard Jeff Ledbetter (190-88, college: Idaho) added 24 points and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Lobos UAD Mazatlan's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Garra Canera de Navolato moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Nogales. Lobos UAD Mazatlan at the other side keeps the second position with 14 games lost. Garra Canera de Navolato will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will play again at home against Garra Canera de Navolato and is hoping to win this game.
