The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon's (16-24) road loss to seventh ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (21-21) 90-98 on Wednesday. Tijuana Zonkeys forced 19 Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon turnovers. American swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) nailed 33 points (!!!) (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) accounted for 21 points and 6 rebounds. Lathan is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. American forward Taylor Brown (198-89, college: Bradley) came up with 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and naturalized American swingman Adam Arciniega (201, college: Bethel, KS) added 22 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon keeps the eighth position with 24 games lost. They share it with Los Mochis. Tijuana Zonkeys will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon will play against the league's second-placed Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#2) and hope to secure a win.
