Rather predictable result in Sao Paolo where fourth ranked Paulistano (6-3) smashed 6th ranked Rio Claro (3-6) 80-59 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Paulistano. Rio Claro managed to win third quarter 17-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Rio Claro 42-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Wesley Alves (198-96) who scored 9 points and 14 rebounds. Point guard Arthur Pecos (183-95) chipped in 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Guilherme Teichmann (206-83, college: Tulsa) who recorded 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international guard Guilherme Pereira (190-91) added 14 points respectively. Rio Claro's coach Dede Barbosa gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Paulistano maintains fourth place with 6-3 record. Rio Claro lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with America. Paulistano will meet XV Piracicaba (#8) on the road in the next round. Rio Claro will play against Liga Sorocaba and hope to secure a win.
