Regular Season Round 1: San-en - Toshiba BT 72-70

A very close game took place in Hamamatsu between Sanen Neophoenix and Toshiba Thunders. Sanen Neophoenix (2-0) got a very close home victory over Toshiba Thunders (0-2). Sanen Neophoenix managed to escape with a 2-point win 72-70 on Saturday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-14. But Toshiba Thunders won second period 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was dominated by American players. Swingman Richard Roby (198-85) stepped up and scored 16 points and 4 assists for the winners and forward Robert Dozier (206-85, college: Memphis) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Ryan Spangler (203-91, college: Oklahoma) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sanen Neophoenix will again meet at home Toshiba Thunders (#5) in the next round. Toshiba Thunders will have a break next round.
