Regular Season Round 1: Estudiantes B - Azuqueca 71-78

An interesting game was played in Madrid where Azuqueca (#2) beat host Estudiantes B (#4) 78-71 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Estudiantes B won fourth quarter 27-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Azuqueca especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Point guard Carlos Calvo (178-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 assists for the winners and Jorge Tejera (200-92) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Azuqueca players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Bernat Vanaclocha (209-98) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and forward Alberto Maura (198-98) scored 6 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Azuqueca will meet at home Lanzarote (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Estudiantes B's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Madrid to the arena Real Madrid II.
