Regular Season Round 23: Santeras - Atenienses 74-63

The game between fourth ranked Santeras (11-6) and 5th ranked Atenienses (9-8) in Aguada ended with biggest points difference. Santeras beat guests from Manati 74-63. Atenienses were ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 40-25 second half run of Santeras. They outrebounded Atenienses 47-30 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a quality performance of American power forward Patricia Bright (193-91, college: Oregon St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Deven Hunter (190-94, college: Oregon St.) helped adding 14 points and 15 rebounds. Four Santeras players scored in double figures. Nigerian-American power forward Atonye Nyingifa (180-90, college: UCLA) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds and international center Sandra Garcia (190-90, college: Wake Forest) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santeras have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Santeras maintains fourth place with 11-6 record. Atenienses at the other side keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Santeras will play against bottom-ranked Lady Cardinals (#8) in Lajas in the next round. Atenienses will play at home against the league's leader Gigantes and hope to get back on the winning track.
