We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Manati where 5th ranked Atenienses (10-9) were defeated by sixth ranked Cangrejeras (8-12) 86-76. Atenienses were ahead by 9 points after three quarters before a 32-13 charge of Cangrejeras, which allowed them to win the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Atenienses helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Kayla Thornton (185-92, college: UTEP) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and the former international point guard Dayshalee Salaman (163-90, college: Lincoln Memorial) accounted for 22 points and 5 assists. American Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists and Nigeria-American power forward Atonye Nyingifa (180-90, college: UCLA) added 19 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Atenienses in the defeat. Four Atenienses players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Cangrejeras maintains sixth place with 8-12 record. Atenienses at the other side keep the fifth position with nine games lost.
