Regular Season Round 1: Zornotza - Tarragona 74-90

Zornotza was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Tarragona 90-74 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by CB Tarragona 2017. Zornotza was better in second period 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CB Tarragona 2017 dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Zornotza's 30. Forward Daniel Martinez (199-94) stepped up and scored 22 points for the winners and American forward Isaiah Harrison (203, college: Freed-Hardeman) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Five CB Tarragona 2017 players scored in double figures. CB Tarragona 2017's coach Bernardo Alvarez used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side American guard Greg Gantt (188-91, college: Florida Atlantic) responded with 26 points and Serbian power forward Vasilije Vucetic (209-96) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. CB Tarragona 2017 will face Sammic ISB (#6) in Azpeitia in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Zornotza will play on the road against Navarra (#14) in Pamplona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
