Qualifying Round Round 1: CTO - Nantes 66-87

Nantes fired past CTO in Amsterdam to step closer to the regular season. The game was mostly controlled by Nantes Reze. CTO was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding CTO to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded CTO 40-15 including a 31-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Canadian-British guard Shona Thorburn (178-82, college: Utah) stepped up and scored 23 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners and German Margret Skuballa (186-87) chipped in 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the losing side guard Tanya Broering (178-84) responded with 14 points and 5 steals and power forward Loyce Bettonvil (185-93) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
