Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik: Valur (#7) and Armann (#3). Valur (1-0) crushed visiting Armann (0-1) by 55 points 116-61. The game without a history. Valur led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Valur forced 24 Armann turnovers and outrebounded them 42-21 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Armann's players. Naturalized American guard Austin Bracey (190-90) fired 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Center Birgir Petursson (205-86) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (made all of his eight free throws). Five Valur players scored in double figures. Dagur Palsson produced 13 points and guard Magnus Hjalmarsson (184) added 10 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Valur will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Armann will play against Breidablik (#1) and hope to win that game.
