Regular Season Round 4: BG 89 Avides - Herner 72-71

Date: October 8, 2016
The biggest surprise took place in Rotenburg where host Rotenburg/Scheessel (2-2) edged league's leader Herner TC (3-1) 72-71 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Herner TC. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Herner TC won fourth quarter 23-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rotenburg/Scheessel had a 27-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Finnish forward Evita Iiskola (183-93, college: Providence) fired 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Forward Laura Rahn (186-86) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Rotenburg/Scheessel players scored in double figures. International swingman Ireti Amojo (176-90, college: Washington St.) produced 15 points and the former international power forward Sonja Greinacher (188-92, college: Gonzaga) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Herner TC's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Rotenburg/Scheessel moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Halle and Keltern. Herner TC at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Saarlouis. Herner TC will play next round against SV Halle Lions trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Rotenburg/Scheessel will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked TV Saarlouis Royals on the road.
