Regular Season Round 4: Caen - Chartres 101-90

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Caen (3-1) defeated at home 15th ranked UB Chartres (1-3) 101-90 on Saturday. The game without a history. Caen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to UB Chartres' 38 and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Caen had a 26-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Cape Verdean swingman B.J. Monteiro (196-90, college: Duquesne) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American power forward Richie Gordon (203-89, college: W.Carolina) who added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Jonathan Mitchell (201-87, college: Rutgers, agency: Inception Sports) responded with 21 points and guard Damien Pistre (189-83) scored 19 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caen moved-up to third place, which they share with Vitre and St Vallier. UB Chartres lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with three games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Caen will meet SAP Vaucluse (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. UB Chartres will play against Lourdes-Tarbes (#7) and hope to win that game.
