Regular Season Round 2: Albacete - Lucentum 84-91

Everything went according to plan when Meridiano Alicante (2-0) won against on the road Albacete (0-2) 91-84 on Sunday. Albacete was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 27-18 charge of Meridiano Alicante, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Meridiano Alicante especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Albacete was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was power forward Guillermo Rejon (206-77) who scored 11 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. American forward Dionte Ferguson (198-92, college: S.Alabama) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Jeffrey Short (193-92, college: Norfolk St.) produced 20 points and Cameroonian center Johan Kody (207-93, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Meridiano Alicante and five Albacete players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Meridiano Alicante will face Cambados at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Albacete will play against Zornotza (#13) in Amorebieta-Echano and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
