Ironi Ramat Gan was not able to use a home court advantage and was crushed by the opponent from Afula 100-79 on Monday night. Hapoel Afula shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Quite impressive performance for American forward Demetrius Treadwell (201-91, college: Akron) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Jalen Cannon (198-93, college: St.Francis, NY) contributed with 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (201-90, college: Murray St., agency: Comsport) answered with 21 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Vernon Teel (193-87, college: Loyola Mary) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Ironi Ramat Gan. Five Hapoel Afula and four Ironi Ramat Gan players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hapoel Afula will face Hapoel Kfar Saba (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ironi Ramat Gan will play against Maccabi Rehovot (#13) and hope to win that game.
