Regular Season Round 3: Valur - Snaefell 59-61

Important game to mention about took place in Reykjavik. Snaefell (2-1) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging Valur (0-3) 61-59 on Tuesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests were ahead by 5 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 16-12 run, which allowed them to win the game. Snaefell dominated on the defensive end, holding Valur to just 7 points in first quarter. They also forced 24 Valur turnovers. It was a great evening for American point guard Taylor Brown (170-93, college: George Mason) who led her team to a victory scoring 24 points and 6 rebounds. International guard Gunnhildur Gunnarsdottir (176-90) helped adding 15 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American forward Mia Loyd (180-94, college: N.Dakota) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 18 rebounds and international guard Gudbjorg Sverrisdottir (180-92) scored 7 points and 7 assists. Snaefell will play against Haukar (#7) in Hafnarfjordur in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Valur will play on the road against Stjarnan and hopes to get finally their first victory.
