No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Caen (4-1) beat 9th ranked SAP Vaucluse (2-3) in Sorgues 71-62 on Tuesday. SAP Vaucluse trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 18-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 62-71 at the end of the game. Caen dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to SAP Vaucluse's 18. Caen forced 19 SAP Vaucluse turnovers. Center Moustapha Diarra (204-87, college: USF) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. American power forward Richie Gordon (203-89, college: W.Carolina) contributed with 10 points for the winners. The victory was the third consecutive win for Caen. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Quimper. Loser SAP Vaucluse dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Caen will face Saint Vallier (#6) at home in the next round. SAP Vaucluse will play against UB Chartres (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
