Regular Season Round 4: Sagunto - Valencia II 72-66

Date: October 15, 2016
Everything could happen in Gilet at the game between two tied teams. Both top-ranked Sagunto and 5th ranked Valencia-2 had identical 1-0 record. This time Sagunto used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Valencia 72-66 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group E. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 19-8 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Sagunto outrebounded Valencia-2 38-19 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Devin Kastrup (203-92, college: Western St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and guard Luis Torrijo (184-93) who added 17 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side forward David Guardia (200-90) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and guard Carlos Cerdan (190-97) scored 10 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Valencia-2's coach let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sagunto (2-0) keeps a position of Group E leader, which they share with UCAM Murcia II and Myrtia. Loser Valencia-2 dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. Sagunto will face league's leader Myrtia in Murcia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Valencia-2's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Valencia to the arena Almassera.
